Has anyone used the front and rear disc brake coversion from jcwitney. Its $1300 for the front and rear for my 75 cj5 I no I could do it cheaper if I resourced junkyard parts but I would rather by a kit and be done with it.

I don't trust anything from JC Whitney. Everything I have bought from there has had horrible quality. But thats just me.

I haven't bought a single thing from JC Whitney because of the bad reputation they have with pretty much everybody in the Jeep community. And their prices suck

Well they are not much cheaper anyway. Every where else that I have checked is about $1500 and I have never bought anything from jcwitney so if u guys say they aint worth a dam then I would rather pay more and get the right stuff the first time.

I don't know who's kit JC Whitney is selling but here's a link to a shop that sells them much, much cheaper and sells a quality product.

    http://www.r-p4wd.com/

Click on products then brakes. They have front and rear disc kits available.

I used to read the JC Whitney catalog when I was a child, and I thought it was great. The company has been around for a long time... They had a big Jeep parts section - likely still do.

But they are just a reseller of stuff you can get elsewhere.

There's a "sticky" thread at the top of the forum that lists places to buy parts. There you will find vendors that sell stuff for Jeeps - both widely available stuff, and things you can't get anywhere else. Most of us here patronize these specialty Jeep retailers when we can, because we want to encourage them to continue to support our vehicles. many of them, like R&P, are also Jeep enthusiasts that combine their hobby with a little (or a lot) of their business - often you will get both hard-to-find parts and great info from them, because they are ... enthusiastic!

So JCW, who's employees and owners I expect would not give a tinker's d**n about the Jeep hobby, prompts a negative reaction.
