cj3b hood

    picked up a cj3b hood no bracing at all any idea's what to use so i can put a hinge on it without looking to bad , only reason im trying to use it's straight and has the willys on the sides , at my work i have alum stringers that mite
    work but no way to weld them in

    IIRC they just use a piano style hinge at the back edge that is spot welded to the hood. They bolt on to the cowl of the tub I'm pretty sure. Really no bracing to speak of.

    there is a brace that goes on the back of the hood that keeps it in u kinda u shape along the hole inside of the hood maybe i can meet up with u Nick if i recover enough to go to the swapmeet i just had ankle surgery just like to introduce myself , my neighbor has a spot at the swapmeet and thanks if you can find some pic

    These are the best ive got. I welded a piece of angle to the existing fold. It adds some noticeable strength.

    thanks for the picture what im looking for if there is a place that sells the hat section
    brace i dont know if thats what its called i work with aerospace and we call it a hat section stringer but the stuff i have is aluminum maybe ill try and have one press braked its so it keeps the correct shape of the hood

    For some reason I was thinking you meant longitudinal braces:rofl:

    Hi I would try to find a 3b junk hood and cut spot welds out. Will be hard to duplicate the radius. I think a 2A,3A hat channel brace would also work the only difference is a short straight piece of hat channel that is spot welded on ends.
