Ok, the Jalopy's frame is kinked and bent in two spots. So, I figure I have 4 options.

    A) straighten the frame and hope for the best
    B) Swap it out with a 3B frame, but there is some rot.
    C) Swap out with a CJ5 frame and make it fit. This one is in good shape. Already has :v6: motor mounts in it.
    D) Build a whole new frame.
Which option would be the least painful? I'm leaning towards building a new frame.

B and C both have bodies (both shot), engines and trannys on them.

    Here are the kinks:

This one is on the driver's side about half way down.

C or D - I am doing a "C" right now as I have a '63 5 frame I am putting a '49 3A body on. Keeping the position of the 225/T98/D18 that was in it. New body mounts for a 2" body lift, slight movement in the hole for the Tranny, Tcase. I just finished cutting the POs firewall/floor hack out tonight and am going to put some floor pieces from another scrap flattie I have in to polish it up.

It's a rig for my middle boy.

I agree with "C". You get longer springs in the rear and a stronger frame from a 2a to boot. Some mods needed but not too bad....

We have a frame straightening machine. My dad wants to try that. Personally, I'd like to used the 5 frame.

My take here is how long you want to wait before driving it again. The 5 frame would have a lot of advantages in the longer springs at both ends. The problem I would have is once the tub was off and down to bare frame, there would be a very long list of other modifications that would happen and a good year long project.

If it was mine and I wanted to use it as you did, I would try to get the kinks out of the frame, plate it and use it. Given the condition of jalopy, I would then start another project jeep for an eventual replacement-something you can make the way you want it from the start and not feel too pressured for time or $. If I did use the 5 frame, it would certainly be fully boxed-makes one hell of a difference.
