Down to the small details I mounted the stand to hold up the hood today but when I went to try it out I couldn't locate a hole to put it in? I'm talking about the one down and around the gril and drivers side fender. I'm afraid I may have welded it up when I did my body work and there wasn't one when I started. So if anyone is bored and or feeling generous would you mind taking a quick picture of where it is supposed to be? Not sure what years are the same or different but mine is a 70 CJ5.

    Thanks in advance.

What's this on? I don't know of any hood stands on CJ's. There are 2 grill to firewall braces, one on each side. :?

I think they had a prop rod by '70 or '71 Glenn.
I'd have to go look, but I think there was remnants of one on my '71.

 I guess if I had read the last part I would have seen it's a '70 CJ5. At least I would have know what it was on.

Hood prop is probably a better word but the question still remains where does that thing land when you swing it around off the front of the hood down to the grill or front fender?

There is a bracket that goes on the passenger side grill support. The adjusting nuts hold it in place. It's the L-shaped bracket standing up with the hole in it. The "hook" of the prop rod goes into the hole.

This thread is jogging my memory a bit. It would make sense that they put a prop for the hood when they changed the windshield to curved at the top. I know the '69 models had the curved windshield available.

Mid '68 started the curved glass. The hood rests on the W/S frame either way..:)

It does indeed, but I'm thinking about the latch on the ones with the straight glass, and the u shaped bracket that it latches to. The curved ones don't have the latch. I was trying to remember what they did to take care of that problem. Was there a different bumper system on the hood?

Nope. That's why they started using the prop rod I think. When I went to the curved W/S I installed a Hood Booger like Lynn did...:)

That's why I was thinking they would have started a prop with the curved windshield. I had a new '69, but it had the straight glass.

Thanks Nick that's not what I expected the response to be but works none the less. I will find a piece of flat steel tomorrow and build something that somewhat resembles yours. I did kind of find it funny that the one item I asked about was far and away the cleanest nicest part on your picture?

    Thanks again.
