I have a T-18 and had a shop swap out my D-20 for a D-18 they put in the wrong gasket. Instead of replacing with the right one they used RTV which they will make right they said. My question is can the T-18 and D-18 share oil with no gasket and just RTV because my oil level in the transfer case seems high I am geting leaks that are higher than the fill plug. Thanks

I believe the T18 has it's own oil supply and will not share with the transfer case.

That is correct, they do not share oil. The seal that rides on the spacer that goes between the output bearing and the transfer case input gear could have been damaged though.

If this is a Ford T-18 that has been converted using an aftermarket adapter make sure they fill the bottom left adapter bolt head (the one that holds the adapter to the transmission case) with sealer as the gasket and transfer case sometimes doesn't quite cover up this bolt hole all the way. It can look like it's covered and sealed up but still leak like crazy. It can drive you nuts trying to find that leak....

Yes it does drive me nuts. I want to do it myself but I will let the shop fix it first then see if it is still doing what it is doing and thanks for the info on the bolt hole I did not know that.
