delco distributor

    i have a 225 oddfire v6 in my 69 jeepster. i am wanting to change to an HEI delco dist. my local parts store has one listed for a 1977 231 oddfire v6. will this dist. work in my engine? any modifications that have to be made?

    Try a search using HEI Distributor, HEI swap, etc. as this has been covered a lot here and there is a lot of information. If the HEI is for an oddfire it will work but there are some minor modifications to the intake that must be made.
    If you have a Delco Points distributor now you could also install a Pertronix electronic ignition conversion. It works in these engines quite well with minimal modifications.

    Just went through it on my 69. Definately takes a bit of grinding on the manifold to make it fit. Other then that no problems and it runs great now. I ordered the HEI from summit.

    I started off with pertronix but it didn't work because i had a prestolite distributor. But pertronix is great if you can put it in, had it on my cj5 and it was one of the best mods that i did to it.
