My '67 cj5 has the top mounted wipers with individual electric motors. The motors work but the arms and blades don't wipe worth a darn. I'm about blind in a rainstorm. I have tried new blades but no improvement. I get a section about 2" wide to see through. Needless to say down here in Florida this can be a problem. Is this a common issue with the old jeeps? Any suggestions that might improve the situation? Thanks for your help

There used to be some exterior springs that could be added to the wiper arms to put more pressure on the window. You may want to look at the manufacturer's installation instructions. You may be able to adjust the height that the stud sticks out of the window with shims.

Go to a place like West Marine and look at their wiper section. You're bound to find something you can use. What kind of motors do you have? I got both motors and wiper arms and blades for mine in a marine supply store.

Sounds like the spring on your arms is too weak or theyre just set too far away at the motor to get adequite force on the glass because they are at the end of their reach. I got my new arms from 4wd.com they were cheap and work great.

Glenn that is great advice. I never thought about non-automotive sources for parts. and Marine quality is usually much better.

I think I am headed to west marine tomorrow. At least I think they are open Sunday

Thanks for the advice. I'll check it out. There is a West Marine just down the road.
