OK, I've seen a few original jeeps on the net that had an operator notice type Warn decal stuck on the dash of Jeeps with front hubs. What's the skinny on their use? Did the dealership put these on? Was there a common placement for them if so?

I found these repos on a Bronco site, but the Jeep ones I've seen were red and said Warn.......otherwise, these look pretty close. Anybody know if anyone makes the Red "Warn" labeled ones....if that would be the correct one

    David,

My first '66 CJ5 had LOCK-O-MATIC hubs. They were very interesting in use. When ever you were accelerating the hubs would kind of lock. When you were coasting the hubs would be free. If you down sifted and loaded the engine the hubs would lock up again. In snow it was very exciting at times.

If you find the correct decal, I would also be interested in a couple.

Well, that's the thing. I went and bought a set of new Warn ones. They are essentially the same internally as the originals, the outside just looks a little different. More chrome, etc. Plus, the new ones say "4x4", "4x2", not lock, unlock. I guess I need one like the second I listed, just in red. Does anyone know if the color matters?

I've seen them on the inside of the glove box door on several Jeeps throughout the years. No idea if they were dealer added or stock.

My late aug 74 had the second style, black and white, positioned at the top left of the dash panel from new.

I think they were added at the dealer during the prep or later if you ordered some hubs and had them installed after delivery. It seems like this was SOP with many of the accessories (overdrives, snowplows, PTOs, Etc.)

I got a new one off ebay and put it back in the same place as the original.

I looked on EBay and found this.

The auction is for a Toyota, but it looks like the second one in this thread without the number at the very bottom.

Yea, I need the ones that say "4x4", "4x2". The Ebay one says "Lock", "Unlock". I called the Toyota site in the second post and they are out of stock

Don't know why I got a double post:?

I see what you mean by the "2x4", "4x4". It does look better. Let me know if you find some.

The stickers came in the box with the Warn hubs. Up to the installer, or customer, if and where to put the sticker. Typically the mechanic would install the hubs, and put the flanges in the box with the documentation and sticker. This would be left for the customer on the passenger side floor.

No, that is for a set of those turn pin style hubs. Very cool though, never seen that decal. I've got Warn hubs with a dial you turn that stops on a mark that says "4x4", then you turn them the other way and it stops on a mark that says "4x2"

Those are the Dual-matic and other mfg. style. Warn never made any like that.
Still a cool pic though and I know some folks would love to have them.
