How in the world do you get the the front drums off a dana 27? Either mine are rusted on or I'm doin something wrong? Do the drums just slide off after loosening the tentioner in the back like later models or do I have to take the whole hub apart?

it may have screws in it, mine didnt, and i dont think all do. mine just slid off with the help of a BFH to break the rust loose

Might depend on which brakes you have - IIRC with 9" drums I had to pull the hubs off, but 11" drums slid over the hub.

Maybe the studs have been replaced, and they have a long enough shoulder to grab the drums?

if its a d27, it would not have factory 11" drums. My solution was a BFH and disc brake parts

Its definitely a dana 27, i was wondering about that too but i measured the drum and sure enough its 11" someone must have done the swap before me....the drums came right off after knocking the wheel studs back a bit, slid right off the hub!...but now i have to get some new wheel studs to put it all back together guess ill run by Napa later...

Nope didn't have to after knocking those wheel studs back it looks to me like it was a combination of the rust and the wheel stud shoulders being to long after a quick inspection of the other hub it looks to be in the same boat

When you put the new studs in take a file, die griner/dremel, unibit, or something similar and open up the stud holes in the drums slightly so they will slide on and off without having to remove the hub. It makes life much easier to service the brakes.....
