Is there a disc brake conversion for the T-18 transfer case?
Any Part numbers, photos and information would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance

Re: T-18 disc brake parking brake

Please note - the T-18 is a truck 4-speed transmission.

The transfer case is a Dana 18, or D18 sometimes.

There are kits for other vehicles, like the FJ-40 maybe. Also try hot rod supplies - seems like a likely add-on to a hot rod. I'd think the mechanical disk brake would be the hard part to find.

    Google is your friend...

Another possible source for a mechanical disc brake is Ditch Witch or Vermeer trenchers. The older non hydrostat units used a mechanical disc brake mounted on the drive line for a parking brake. I have no idea how easily it would adapt but it might be worth a try.

Tom Woods, High Angle Driveline, and All-Pro (Toyota specialists) all make parts to do transfer case disc brake swaps. I don't think they make a complete kit for the 18. You could use some of the parts and most likely have to make your own caliper bracket. I recently did this as a custom application on a Dana 300 which would be a similar conversion. Basically I used their rotor and caliper, I had to use their companion flanges as the spline count was different than an 18, and built my own bracket and modified the caliper somewhat for my tastes. I bought the parts from Tom Woods. While nice looking, the inside of the rotor was simply laser cut and not machined so didn't fit the companion flange I bought from them for the application and had to machine it to fit. If I had to do it over again I'd probably try High Angle in the hopes of less work. I'm planning down the road to do one on an 18 transfer case but haven't got there yet. I don't have step by step pics but if you want a pic or two of the finished product e-mail me and I can send them to you. nickmiln@aol.com
Patrick's father did one using All-pro parts so you may want to contact him about it. I don't have any experience with All-Pro but the Toyota crowd really seems to like their products. For my application it was a lot of work and tinkering, but in the end I think it will be well worth it. Nickmil

Great topic. I would like to add the parking brake to my transfer case as well. Anyone have photos or where to buy?

    Check with Parts Mike.

I know they sell a drive line disk setup, not sure if them have it for the D18 however.
