This is not a question. I am informing anyone who is twin sticking a Dana 20 to take a look at the one offered threw Novak. It is "Don's" twin sticks. I just received them on ups and I am very happy with the quality. "Don" is (I understand threw reliable sources) retiring and this product may not be offered anymore. A D20 is pretty easy to build a set and I did start, however I am now bussier than a cat covering crap on the centerline of a paved highway. So I ordered a set. I also got a spicer 18 shifter boot for the twin sticks.
Check it out if you are in the market!

    this may sound silly but.
did you put the anti-rattle spring clips on the shifter arms?

    OK here are some pictures.
And I did something different than the kits instructions. So in no way am I saying I made a upgrade or better than the kit was intended.
The only reason for me going to the twin stick is because I really did not like the stock shifter. I did not like how it laid down against the floor in 4 low. and it was just a pain to keep things tight.

The "upgrade" kit comes with shifters and linkages and a new slide fork rail that needs to be installed in the T-case. I chose not to install the new slide rail.
Why, well first I wanted to see what gears I got with it in stock form! also I don't care to engage my front end only. the D44 is in the rear for a reason. To make this change I had to modify a couple pieces from my original linkage.

The boot was sold seperately from Novak
I purchased the kit from Novak and was vary pleased with my help (as always)
When you order the kit they are custom made for your trany and model of jeep. since I new how the stock setup that was with a T15 3 speed was working I ordered the kit for a 3 speed even though I had swapped in a 4 speed. It lined up great.

This the transfer rods in the T-case. one rod is round with a hole in it! the kit has a adapter that will rotate this hole 90 deg to line up with the shifter linkage. the other is flat on the end and is again 90 deg from were it needs to be for the linkage. This is the rod that gets replaced. I did not replace mine instead I made a piece to adapt!

These are two linkages of my old shifter set up. I put them in the vice and rolled them.

So here are the lever and gear set up I have! The drivers closest lever is the rear axle. Back is 2 High - forward one to neutral- forward again is 2 low.
The lever closest to the passenger is front axle. center is neutral. back is 4 high and all the way forward is 4 low. I can not engage my front end without my rearend being in that gear first. (unless someone knows a trick)
to run 2 high: rear axle in high and front axle in neutral.
to run 2 low: rear axle to low and front axle in neutral.
to run 4 high: rear axle in high and front axle in high.
to run 4 low: rear axle in low and front axle in low.

Now just to re-work the shifter boot a little. I just aint happy with its final outcome.

I did not install any anti-raddle springs. was looking at that!. I am going to waite and see if it is a problem!

It doesn't rattle on the shaft it rattles on the pin in slotted hole.

    that's actually a good price.

I'll definitely be ordering one of those to go on when I have it out for my sm465 swap.

What I love about Early Jeeps and Scouts is that there is a stock part out there to solve most anything. Example, I used a twin stick tower and shift rods out of a Scout Dana 20 to make my Jeep Dana 20 look just like a twin stick Dana 18. Now my transfer case shifts and looks like a stock Dana 18, but is a Dana 20. This stuff is so Cool!!!

I originally looked into doing the easier route.... BUT being a Mechanical and Electrical Professional Engineer.... I investigated Four Ways to Sunday and finally decided to also order the TWIN STIX TWENTY (D20) for my Dana-20 as well some time ago... Yes, it took a minor disassembly and was well worth the effort.

Again, thank you DON! This ol Master Gunnery Sgt appreciated the Professional Mechanical approach that Don's product allows and the Dana 20 is as quiet after 20,000 miles as it was when new.

    Semper Fi Don!

I got my D20 twins from D.D. Machine in Poulsbo, WA. Only $79, plus shipping. Duffy is the guy to talk to. He doesn't have any on ebay right now, only D300 kit, but you can see it for the quality. No cotter pins on mine, all self locking nylon nuts with fine machine thread. No rattles. Check him out...totally satisfied. 2 Jeep jamborees and tight and smooth.
