Can anyone recommend a brand of tire for a 65 Jeep?

I like the super swamper style tread but I do not want real huge tires. Any suggestions are gladly appreciated.

What do you want to do with your 65 Jeep? Daily driver? Weekend ice cream runs? dirt roads? Off-roading? Winter/snow driving on streets and roads?
Got any lift on this Jeep?
What size wheels do you plan on using?

Really depends on what you want to do with your rig.

I've had 2 sets of the swamper tsl radials and they are fantastic for traction and smooth ride. On the other hand they're not as tough as the bias ply tsl.

I'd go with a Super swamper radial in a small size. Great tire, been running 32 x10.5 x15'a on my 3b for years.

I'm running Treadwright re-treads on mine for the last couple years. Awesome tire so far, I haven't had a lick of trouble with them.

I'm running the 235/75r15's on stock steel rims love them:

I've beat the heck out of these things and they're taking it. They are on BFGoodrich A/T casings.

I mounted them in my garage, and balanced them by pouring 8oz. of RV antifreeze in the tire before I seated the bead. They ride perfectly smooth, i've had my 62 up to 65mph so far and it rides smooth as glass. No vibrations or anything.

Treadwear so far is awesome too. I highly recommend them. I have a set of Treadwrights on my 2003 GMC 3500 work van as well (obviously not the mud tread!) and they've been great on that for the last couple years too. Cost me half as much as a set of Toyo's was going to cost me and do great in snow, etc. Quiet down the highway too.

I am running the same size tire as you are and those look very interesting. I am curious about shipping costs?

I found a set of 275/8.5X15 super swampers for 109.00 a piece. I have 7.5's on there now and I wonder if I could put the 8.5's on the same rims? I really don't want to get new rims or have to get spacers.

Thank you for all your input on this subject.

33x12.5x15 BFG Mud Terrain TA KM2, like them so far. I have BFG for over 15 years with out any problems that were not caused by me. Good tread life, off road traction and not really loud either. I got rid of the swampers that I tried, wouldnt stay balanced and didn't really like wet slick rocks.

IIRC it was only 9-10 bucks a tire shipped to my house. They showed up about three days after I ordered them.

Specify you want matching casings and all your tires will match. I forgot to do that on my order for my GMC tires, and got two different sidewalls. No big deal, they were the same weight rating and everything. But probably something you want to match on your Jeep. I know I would. ;-)

Need to know what width of wheels you have now to know if the 8.5's will fit.
If you have 7" wheels it may be tight but should work, if you have 8" then no problem. 10's would be too wide. The 8.5" width refers to section width not the width of the tread or the bead to bead width.

The wheels that are on there now are 7.5's.
