I Just got my waggy power booster and master cylinder mounted and bleed. Now the brakes have a scary amount of assist, compleate lock up under modrate pedal pressure. Is there anyway to reduce the assist? Reduce the vacuume?

It has a 1.125 bore master cylinder and stock '82 CJ front discs.
Stock '73 2X11 rears with proportioning valve inline.

The master cylinder may simply be too big for the CJ as a Waggy is a good deal heavier.

You may also want to consider rethinking the power assist, or possibly running semi-metallic pads and linings as these take more pedal pressure to stop.

Wouldnt a smaller bore MC increase the braking force. Im also thinking This may take some getting used too.

It would increase the braking force for a given pedal pressure, but it would require more movement of the pedal for activation of the brakes. It should make the braking force easier to control.

Yes, it will take some getting use to.

These Jeeps offered power brakes from the factory, so you can compare the cylinder diameter with that application. It may be that the Wagoneer booster simply provides a lot of boost - if that's the problem, you'll need to get used to it, or substitute a weaker type of booster.

Might also check the pushrod adjustment. If too long it's already partially applying the brakes which makes them very sensitive. Doesn't necessarily mean it will cause the brakes to drag but the master cylinder would be already starting to apply and will have very little travel before application actually begins.

would an 1/8 of an inch do it? it is partly depressed as it is... ill shorten the push rod and try that. All this braking power is not a bad thing when i tow my boat!
