hardtop pics

Discussion in 'Early CJ5 and CJ6 Tech' started by 69Rustj5, Nov 12, 2009.

  1. I am hoping to buy a hardtop soon. I was thinking maybe you guys could post pics of yours and what brand it is. So that I could decide what brand top to look for.

We really need to make a Hardtop sticky where people could post hardtop info, ask questions, show hardtop pics and it all stays in one place........

    Amiright?

That's a Meyer. That's the most likely type you'll see. There were other makers, but this is the cab that Jeep sold as factory equipment and "approved" dealer-installed equipment.

The CJ-3B page has some info on cabs. http://www.film.queensu.ca/cJ3B/Hardtop.html It seems there's more variety for the earlier models. You sometimes see a Kelly or Koenig on a CJ-5, but mostly you see Meyer.

I just put my hardtop back on last night for a 4-wheeling trip I went on today. It is a fiberglass unit and you can take the top part off over the front seats so it's like a sunroof. The doors are fiberglass too, and have windows up top like normal, and have windows down on the bottom half of the doors as well. Also, the whole inside is carpeted (except for the doors) and the doors have an armrest moulded into them. No idea who makes it. My buddy thinks it's awsome, said he's never seen a fiberglass CJ5 hardtop in real life before. I could try to get pics of it, but I don't think they even make it any more. Anyone know what type it may be?

  13. Hey skysthelimit, that top sounds sweet. Yeah I might never find one like it to buy but I would appreciate pics. And would bet that I'm not alone.

Heres an Orville(Meyers) standard cab on my CJ5. I agree there should be a hardtop sticky.

I guess one of my tops is a Meyer. Thanks for the photo. I had no clue. The other one says Acme.
