    Two points here:
    1. The Cherokee wasn't introduced until 1974, so this can't be a 73 Cherokee.
    2. It is possibly a 1973 2 door Wagoneer panel truck, which had the Dana 30 as its standard front axle until 1974. Or it's just a regular 4-door Wagoneer, but either way, in 1973 it had a closed-knuckle Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear with 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern.

Old thread, I know, but I wanted to ask another question...

I spoke with a rep from Currie and he mentioned that he didn't think the HP front end would be appropriate for the CJ due to the driveshaft causing interference. Is this because of the starter?

It depends on the amount of lift you have. A HP front can cause driveline issues with starters, bellhousings, oil pans, etc if you are not lifted enough for clearance.

I have a 9" front axle with 60 outers on my wish list!!! I have heard that for serious crawlin even the 44 may break a knucle. Im sure it has alot to do with how u drive it.

Well, basically, I want to over build for my needs so that I can spend more time exploring and enjoying my outings, with little to no worry about breaking parts, and not having to carry too much in the way of spares.

I'm running 4.5" Rubicon Express springs, which definitely gave me a good 5" of lift in the back, but I would say only about 3.5" in the front. Also, I'm running a shackle reversal, which moves the axle backward on the upward stroke. Another factor to consider is the driveshaft itself...it's a slip unit from Tom Wood's (awesome piece of work BTW!) and it is a 2" shaft as opposed to the factory 2.75" shaft.

Another Idea Is to use 44's out of an older international they are about 60wms and if you must have a ford 9" rear, a 71 bronco has the 60wms ford 9".

You might have to run out riggers up front for the spring packs though I do not know the
measurement on the international spring pads.

and all of these axles are 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern.
