Any good ideas on where to get the most original appearing speedometer for a 1961 Cj-5.

I took one apart a couple years ago. It was a newer one for a cj7 I think but I took the face off an old original cj5 speedo and put it on the newer one. Only major thing I had to do was drill a 3/4" hole in the center so I could slip it over the needle very carefully. Then just found some black pop rivits and secured the face to the bracket behind it.

That's awesome! Does anybody know of anyplace that has N.O.S. 1956 vintage speedos? They only go to 8, not 9, and they have a skinny needle. Like this one, but with a straight, skinny red (maybe orange) needle. This needle's not a correct one.

Might get on WT and check with Harry Sheets. He occasionally has them. He had the correct one for my '57 in good shape. Unfortunately I didn't have the money at the time....

I already have three of them, all in fairly rough shape but rebuildable. For some reason the needles on the '56 speedos tended to break off, from vibration I guess. If I found a N.O.S. one, I'd be on it like a horny chimp.

How did you find that stuff? I'm not real good at searching eBay for specific things, I usually just search "Willys Jeep". I move through eBay like an old man on a walker.

I usually search Fleabay by "Willys Jeep" as well but you can also put in a search for "Jeep speedometer" or something like that. and save it, (go in advance setting or somthing like that) Ya the '56 speedo went $55 I was really tempted but already had what I needed. Good luck.
