I need a new front and rear bumper for a 73 CJ5 anyone know where I can find some nice aftermarket ones. All I can seem to find are 76 and newer. Thanks for your help.

I think we are seriously limited on aftermarket for our Jeeps. I have been looking through all the common catalogs with little luck. I will probably build my own bumpers out of either boxes tubing or this aluminum channel I have. I was thinking about just hacking it off to the width of the front frame rails and boxing the ends to clean it up, and not adding 40 pounds with a large steel monstrosity.

Ok let me try this then. Is there anyone on here that could fab me one for a decent price?

A reproduction factory front bumper is available from many retailers.

Jeep offered chrome front and rear bumpers with the Intermediate Jeeps. They are out there but scarce in good condition.

The factory draw bar provides a rear bumper of sorts. You can also get rear bumperettes that will fit on intermediates.

There was a factory step bumper available for the Intermediate CJ.

Quite true - there's not a lot of aftermarket support for Intermediate Jeeps.

I was under the impression that the intermediate front bumper frame horns are the same as the 76+ CJ's...it is the rear that changed and therefore not compatible.

    nickmil In mothballs.

Intermediates are the same as '71 and older. They are the same spread as the '76 and up but not sure if the bolt up is the same or not. Hopefully someone else can chime in on that part. The rear is definitely different.

Try Eddie at Ground Pounder Fab. He has an Ebay store front but will make anything you want / need finished or unfinished, at a decent price. Do a google search and see some of the pics over on jeepforum. Everyone seems to rave about his products. He's a Jeep fanatic and takes pride in his work.

I'll second Eddie at Groundpounder Fab.
    Great work, great prices.

And I'll say the same for Jeremy at Cassidy's Customs:

A to Z Fab is well respected too:

I've spoken at length with the owners of each of these shops.
I run Cassidy's and Groundpounder stuff on my rig.

These are all mid-Atlantic region builders. Where are you located?
Two of the three will be at the PA Jeeps show in York PA July 18 - 19...
