I previously bought a set of steel braided longer lines and put them on our jeep. They were kinda pricey. We have a 78 CJ 5 with disc brakes. The right front braid split so I was in search of new lines. I figured our both sizes for fittings on the Jeep and started digging. I figured out that front brake lines for a 78 K10 will work. They have a couple of little ears that stick out that had to be cut off. This mod should fit CJs from 76 to 78 which had the 6 bolt caliper mount. IIRC the later brakes have a 3/8 banjo bolt. Mine have a 7/16 banjo bolt. The new lines are 2.63 longer than the factory lines. Being that we have a 2.5 in lift this works out well. You will have a source a couple of 5/8 washers and a couple of 5/8-18 nuts. You also need banjo bolts for a 78 K10.

There are a few options for longer brake lines for late 70s CJs.

I seem to recall some late 70s Ford P/U lines work too.

    OK, found this:
"The 79 Ford F150 hose, Raybestos BH36931, should fit 77-80 CJ's and it is about 20" long."

I searched the JeepForum CJ forum for Ford brake lines. There are alot of other threads...

I used a Raybestos #BH 36931 brake hose(for a '79 F150) to replace the braided hose on my front axle that has the large '79 CJ disc brakes. I have a 4" lift.

I figured some people would like to know this. I did look at the 80+ ford brake hoses and they won't work. I didn't look at the 79 down hoses cause they didn't have any. Its good to know those will fit. Just for reference the 78 K10 hoses are 19.63 inches long.

If you need longer ones also look at that year of 3/4 ton Suburban. I used them on the front of the race Jeep with long travel suspension and worked well. Think I paid about $12-14 each for them. The Suburban ones were even longer for some reason.
