    Ahoya!

Mud season is around the corner and I'm almost ready to go! Scored the '77
T18 freshened up, burned on Holbrook springs. Need a solution to the monstrosity on the front end.

PO mounted a '66 Ramsey pto, offset with lockbox on the front end. I believe he did it that way, as opposed to dropping it between the framerails, to get the shaft around the saginaw steering box. The pto adapter off the D20 allows the shaft to run along the frame, with a slight jog to the winch.

I'm too stubborn to lose the winch, it's served me well over the years. I'll continue to run it as is, if I can't figure a way to drop her between. As you can imagine excess weight and leverage on the front end from the "sofa" fabbed to run the winch.

    Latest solution I've heard:
Find a mid 70's Scout 2 power steering box, convert. Chop the angle iron encasing the winch, fab some on the sides, and drop her between the framerails. Then it should be a straight shot in there for the pto shaft.

    Any opinions, issues, other ideas?

got any pics? Hard for us to imagine what your set up looks like.

I think, however, that you are going to run into problems getting a proper driveshaft to the winch around the engine. If you are worried about the weight, you could run it as it stand and switch to a synthetic winch rope to save a few lbs.

I agree with needing pics and measurements. Without that it's hard to "see" what problems you are experiencing. I've Installed a few pto winches and may be able to help. Here's a pic of my Koenig on the front of the CJ-6 with Saginaw steering that has a modified Scout Terra frame.

Thanks for the quick response. Here are two pics that should illustrate what I'm up against: As soon as I can overcome comp crash, I will post better pics.

Sheddiggs, I can't really help you any, but that is one cool looking jeep that you've got there!

    Thanks for the kind words.

Anyone have an idea on the feasibility of this conversion? Any other ideas will be appreciated.
