gettin ready to order some new seats i think i have made my mind up for the rear Bestop TrailMax II Fold & Tumble, question though, i'm goin with black but stuck on the regular or denim, whats the difference? i have also not been able to decide on front seats, according to quadratec bestop doesn't make the matching front seats earlier than 76, could i mod these in any way to fit in my 74? if not, any suggestions as to some decent front buckets, preferably with a full back and other than sort of complimentary to the rear seat style/color the rest doesn't matter.

You could probably make the Bestops work, but I wouldn't recommend them. I rode in a Jeep that had them up front and thought they were about the worst seat I'd ever ridden in. The seatback has a piece of tubing that cut just under the shoulder blades.

the rear seat i had wasnt any better, it sat at a weird uncomfortable angle and was rather cheaply put together. i would suggest finding a factory yj fold and tumble rear

SSDutch has a folk and tumble Steel Horse seat. I know Steel Horse isn't always the best when it comes to other stuff, the seat seems pretty decent.

I've ridden in a couple of Jeeps with the Trailmax Pro seats. Liked them so much I bought some for the CJ-6 project. They are much better than the regular Trailmax seats but more money. A case where you get what you pay for generally. Regardless of what we say, I'd recommend sitting in the type of seat that you are considering. What is very comfortable for one person can be agonizing for another. Our body types are all different and where a seat hits us or forms to us will be different from person to person. Case in point, many people like the Poly style racing seats, but they kill my back off as they hit me wrong.

I find the original seats to be very comfortable. If you can locate a pair in good condition, a local upholstery shop should be able to rebuild them for you.

I've also had Bostrom high back seats, which were excellent - but I don't know if they are widely available.

Back in '95 I installed Steel Horse Super Seats in the 71. They very firm but never uncomfortable. These have held up very well, and are still in use today. They haven't broken down and last I looked, still don't show any wear.

I agree with Boyink on the Bestop seats. I put a set in my 5. Took some getting used to with that bar in the back. Not near as comfortable as the stock ones.
