Update: I have finished the power steering conversion and it works great, I also recently picked up a like new warn overdrive for 400 bucks and a really awesome set of original NOS overload coilover air springs they came with old original box instructions and hardware i have never seen a set of these before so any info on them from other people would be great

Some pictures from buildup and after, I made the bed (stock one was rotted completely through) from scratch but reused the stock fenders, the six slat channels on the sides of the bed and that prized priginal stamped W tailgate!

Spring over Conversion custom made perches that wrap all around the axle.

The frame was very solid no rot at all but lots of surface rust, frame was taken to bar metal
Primed and has numerous coats of flat black
    [IMG]
Before the paint previous owner sprayed like 6 coats of grey primer on this truck to keep it from rusting.
It was a pain in the *** to get off but underneath was the best rust and rot free body ive ever seen for a 1953!
I also installed some extended shock towers from a 1960 something 2wd F600 as the boneyard
    [IMG]
Fresh bed liner, was the duplicolor do-it yourself stuff but is suprisingly durable

thats a great looking truck! i am getting ready to put power steering on my 62 willys truck. i've got a koenig pto winch on mine and must re-route the shaft to clear the steering box. i'm going to reverse the worm gear to the passengers side to get the clearance. i have a chevy 250 inline six in mine with a weber carb.
you have done excellant work on the truck.
that warn overdrive will make a big difference, it does in mine.

Wow awesome truck! I just started on resto-modding my 48 truck. Power steering and a spring over are on my to do list. Could you tell me what parts you had to use from AA and what junkyard parts are needed? Is there anything to watchout for? My mech skills are mediocre at best, but I have more time than money. Also would it be possible to post a picture of the pitman arm/drag link/tie rod? Thanks.

Oh by the way my name is Jesse and I just joined the list. I live in central Idaho and have a 1948 willys 4wd truck. The body is rough, really rough the mechanicals are a little better. I want to build a really nice daily driver. I am thinking spring over with some 285/75x16, power steering, power disk brakes, 12 volt conv. and am pondering the benifits of a v8 repower. Nice to meet ya all. Jesse
