    I machined the gear. A well hardened gear, so it wasn't easy. Requires patience.

    Since you have experience in machining the gear, can you give me dimensions as to how much/deep to machine the gear. I am sure it will be somewhat obvious, but if you know the exact depth then it wouldn't hurt to know that either.:)

    All I remember is that the nut would only go on about half way. Basically, i just put it on the back of the tranny, noticed the problem, measured how much needed to be removed, then removed it. Sorry I can't be more precise. I just made it so the nut would go all the way on with a thread or two showing.

    If you machine the gear you definitely want to leave some room in the splined area for some "crush" of the washer. You don't want the washer and nut bottoming on the splines of the output shaft or the bull gear will move back and forth on the splines wearing the gear, the output shaft, the spacer behind the bull gear, etc. Nickmil
