    Hello!
Does anyone know if the dana 300 used in IH Scout is the same as the 300 used in Jeeps? I live in Norway and up here the 300's from Jeeps aren't very easy to find, so I wondered if I could use one from a Scout instead. :)

IIRC, the scout 300 has the texas bolt pattern like the D18 and D20

Scout 300 cases are fairly sought after here for sure. Are you looking to replace a 300 in a Jeep or swap up to one?

The scout case me just be the ticket. It shares the same bolt pattern as the Dana 18 in your Jeep now. Not sure on the internal stuff though. I'm surprised no one has stepped in on this one. Let me do a littl digging.

The Scout Dana 300 has the "Texas" pattern as already mentioned and will bolt right in place of a Dana 20 or 18 transfer case. Make sure you get the input gear! There were two used, a fine spline with automatics and a 6 spline with manual transmissions. You will need the 6 spline if running a manual transmission. You can't mate one to a T-14 3 speed as they used a 10 spline output shaft. The Jeep Dana 300 has a round bolt pattern and a 23 spline input and won't interchange with a Dana 20 or 18. The Scout has a 2.62-1 low range just like the Jeep. Around here the Scout 300's are very sought after and hard to find as they were used in Scouts only in 1980. Last one I sold was rebuilt with a 6 spline input gear and went for $575 and only had it for sale a week. Nickmil
