Anyone have any pros-cons on using a Chrysler RV-2 Compressor for an OBA setup? Just happen to have one on the shelf here! Looks to be a pretty decent displacement!

    Thanx

Yea, heard the Sanden types work fine as well.

I guess I like the idea of an oil sump type compressor so ya dont need to inject oil

    Here is a picture...

Those are a great compressor but haven't been used in years. I'd worry about parts availability. One other thing is they are HEAVY! I toyed with the idea of using one for oba as I had a couple laying around until I picked one up and remembered how heavy they are. For the project I was working on I went with the York and never looked back. On my CJ-5 I used a Harrison R-5 and do what Madizell does, oil it periodically and dump the excess. Has lasted for many years with little problem. I used that compressor 'cause I didn't have to fab bracketry, that's what came on some Buick 231 V-6's so it was all a bolt on. Nickmil

The parts for these are still available and you can still get the units remanufactured. In my opinion they were the best air conditioning compressor ever put on a car. They are very heavy and hard to mount on certain engines due to the way they mount. They are intended to mount directly over the center of the V on an engine.
