just worked on a friends old 53 flat fender and when checking under the jeep i noticed it has a slip joint on the rear drive-shaft. slip it forward and the drive-shaft turns free and push it back and it locks the drive-shaft, pretty cool. any one know what this setup is called.

Don't know what it's called but sounds like one of the set ups used when a vehicle is towed long distances. They make kits for that that is usually cable operated with a release mechanism in the cab. Nickmil

thats what its for but you have to reach under the jeep to disengage it. its a pretty cool setup, like to find out what its called and where to get one.

They still make them, check with your local RV store. The folks just had one installed on the Dodge so they could tow it behind the home.
