    suicide doors, drivers side done!

Has anyone considered makin their jeep doors suicide type? It would make it alot easier during the fall and spring, when it's warm open the doors and latch or secure them open.. then if it rains or starts getting cold just close them.
Just an idea I had:) I think I'm gonna look for some hard wear and try it out this weekend:beer:

I think they would be great to open a couple of inches and let some air in.

However most of my old farm jeeps, I know if did that, I would also be blowing some of the dirt around inside the jeep. And it would probably get into my eyes. Also if one of the latches ever gave way going down the highway, I bet it would scare the heck out of you. And probably mess up the door, the top and your pants!

I think that is a great idea, I have an old aluminum hard top I was going to make my project for the winter, might have to try the suicide option, no more mirrors getting bumped, no door hinges bolted to the body, plus the cool factor of suicide doors, I likey:)

Okay for the hot rodder guys, but just can't see the positives outweighing the cons on a jeep . . . .

Besides the cool factor, I am just cringing just thinking about drilling more holes in my JEEP to mount my hard doors conventionally.

Friend of mine manufactures kits for mini trucks, you may be able to use some of his hinges..

Well this is a steel hardtop so I'm just going to lowes tommorow morning and picking up some heavy duty hinges and a couple barrel latches.
    That should do the trick:twisted:

Ok drivers side is done, well needs some paint but the suicide doors are functional. They are very secure at highway speed closed and strapped open as well as off road too:beer:  Passanger side will have to wait till next weekend.
The pic's basically explain themselves except for the one one the right, thats my redneck rust repair R)
