you guys are going to hate me for even thinking about this but im thinking about puting toyota axles under my jeep because i hav axcess to lower gears for them i have 2 sets 1 410 1 437 welded front and rear disc brakes thair stronger and wider i just think it would be cool and ive herd that the longfield's are compareable to a stock d60 strength that is a lot of beef in a small package

    what do you think?

What are you gonna do about the offset rear? You can't mix and match gears, both front and rear gears need to be the same.
I'm sorry I have heard guys say that Toyota axles are strong but not even close to a dana 60, have seen to many Toyota trucks on the trail or road with busted axles.

The longfield axles are indeed very strong. If it weren't for Bobby Long Toyota's would still have serious issues. The Toyota design works very well and hold up very well. That being said, you still won't have an offset axle like you need to run an 18 transfer case. You will need to go to crossover steering, you will need adapters if you can find them for the brake lines, you will need 6 hole wheels. The Toy axles are wider than Jeep axles so be aware of that. You may need to outboard the front springs because of front pumpkin offset. Not 100% sure of the last, but a tape measure will tell for sure. Not saying you shouldn't do it, but just bringing up a few things to consider. Not to mention special drive shafts to match the Toyota companion flanges to the Jeep transfer case. Nickmil.

please dont take this wrong but i am verry mechanicly inclined i cant say im a mechanic cause im not ASE certified but ive taken all of the above into consideration and am torn between leaving drive train stock vs the 225 th400 d20 toy axels all of witch are in my shop right now well not the axels but thay could be in like five minutes with the help of a blue tip wrench

PS you awnsered the offset tcase qusetion when you quoted me lol

Please don't take this wrong, but why are you asking the question if you already have it all figured out?

I for one think that it would be a pretty cool build. If you have the shop, the ability and the parts, I can't see a reason why not to try it. Unique stuff is always cool. Especially if you take lots of pics and document the build-up for us. Plus it sounds like the axles already have a bunch of work done to them. No sense starting over with a more "traditional" Jeep axle swap. Just my .02

I am putting toys under mine also. I have the 30 spline longs for the front. I just finished building the chassis and working on the link suspesion now. Toy axles are light, strong, high clearance and a good width if you want wider but not full width. I put a 5.3 vortec, TH350, Lomax 4:1 Dana 300 in mine. Hope to be through by late spring. If you need any info just let me know.

I'd suggest trussing the housings too. They are light and strong axles, plenty of upgrades and surprisingly a good fit for jeeps, but the housing are notorious for bending.

This axle was from a buddy of mine. He hit a dip in the road a little too fast and caught some 'air'.R) I had to cut the housing apart to get the shafts out.
