Started the process of adding an underseat tank. It will only be used for long trips, the main tank will be the original rear tank. I ordered the MTS tank with a flanged connection for the tubing connection/sending unit.
Added the panel for the fuel filler:

The floor board has about 45 years worth of my oxy-acetylene welded patch panels, so it is a bit wavy. I will be adding some stiffening/leveling delrin strips for the tank to sit on. Also I will replace the body mount bolt and the muffler hanger bolt in this picture with some stainless elevator bolts.

The trial fit of the tank looks like it will work. I was worried that I would have to move the OX locker control knob, but there is plenty of room as-is. I am going to fab a couple of hold down straps out of some galvanized or stainless strap, maybe even just some pipe strap, I haven't decided yet.
The sending unit fits well in the MTS tank although I did have to open the hole up a little more, but not affecting the gasket mating surface.

Once I have the tank installed and the seat in place I will be installing one of the Groco 6-way marine fuel valves probably near the Ox locker control knob. Then I will figure out the fuel routing.

I've wanted some underseat storage. I carry a tote with enough parts to partially rebuild a rolled burned out Jeep. Initially I was going to build some under seat drawers but.. I'm far too lazy for that. Snake Plisken and I had bounced this around a couple of times.
Internet sleuthing found these 5" deep workbench drawers. Of course they needed to date the cutoff wheel. A coat of textured shake n shoot covered up the epoxy gray. Two hole conduit straps secure them to the cage.
99% of my junk fits in 1. The other will house the remainder and my tools.

Mounted the air compressor to the fender well. Spiral hose tucks down next to the passenger seat, reaches all 4 corners.

Could you share a link for those drawers?
I quoted the incorrect post but I hope you'll get my point.

That is the same valve that I used in my jeep and Steve's jeep. Very happy with it!
IMO.... you should tack weld that elevator bolt to the floorboard. Nothing would be worse than having to remove the gas tank in order to work on the exhaust.

Looks like it's 90 degrees out of phase. Need to pull it apart at the splines and rotate one end.

On the Jeep front, the XJ has had an exhaust leak tick for a few weeks now. Finally got the time to take it apart and deal with it. Nearly every junction was cracked and one was cracked so bad I could see daylight though the collector pipe. The one I thought was good inmy attic had small crack in one joint so I decided to just order up a new one. Should be here any minute now.

I also replaced all the coolant lines and refilled with new coolant on the same Jeep, and went to put a new speed sensor in (it's been intermittent) but found I have the round pin plug and ordered the flat pin sensor. Looks like the round pin sensors are no long available, so I had to order an adapter harness.

On the YJ I was going to wire up my SENA SR10 to the Motorola radio so I can use it with my wireless headsets and remote PTT but don't have the right pins for the connector on the rear of the radio so ordered up one of those from EBAY, along with a 20v tool battery adapter so I can power the kids Power Wheels Jeeps with my lithium batteries instead of using the expensive Power Wheels 12v batteries.

I also pulled the distributor this morning which is a source of a decent sized oil leak and replaced the paper gasket at the base with an oring. That should fix that leak up.

Bigger project is I discovered the transmission has a sizeable oil leak from the rear weep hole which indicates a rear seal failure in the transmission. Thankfully it's not that hard to drop the transfer case on these things so after the Cherokee is back together today I'll pull the YJ over and drop the case either tonight or first thing tomorrow and prep it for the seal that had to be ordered.

On the transmission front I found a salvage AX5 transmission down south of me and will be going to pick that up this weekend coming up. I'll put that on the bench for a tear down and inspection and do the 5th gear fixes. They're known for crapping 5th gear and mine is making a horrible racket in 5th so I've been driving it as a 4 speed.

Whew been a busy few days. Except for yesterday. Due to parts, the kids and I were kind being lazy.
