    hey all ..

    new guy here..

    im trying to gain info..

i keen to find out if anyone can confirm the D27 used in early 60's Jeep might be the same as Studebaker Lark

reason being there seems to be a half decent abundance of spider gear replacement kits to suit 10 spline D27 in Jeeps.
however the Studebaker version is getting hard to find

.living down under current exchange rates make buying as Jeep kit a silly move..

either above or can someone help with dimesions of parts in the kit please ?

    many thanks
    Alex

Just to clarify, you have a Stude with a D27 in need of differential spider gears & are wondering if Jeep CJ parts could be used as replacements?

A total guess on my part, but that guess is yes, D27 parts are D27 parts with respect to the carrier and ring/pinion. Just like all the pieces for the original version of the D44 interchange across just about all applications.

Like John aka Duffer writes, very likely that the dimensions are the same. I would worry about the spline count, if that mattered to what you need.

You could also try a Studebaker forum. Seems more likely they have a shortage of these parts than Jeep owners would and may know about interchange. Jeep used the 27 in front axles in several models 1960ish, and replacements are not scarce in the USA.

Here you could find a junk axle for free or scrap prices, take it apart and measure.

I know you can use Studebaker Dana 44 parts in a Jeep 44 so I would think 27 parts would interchange as well, although I’ve never done it myself. Keep in mind early International Scouts also used 27’s.
