Main hoop is in. It matches the angle of the front hoop.

That 3-way intersection was a pain in the butt, but I think it looks pretty cool. I'll repeat that angle on the top rear section of the rear bars.

Thanks guys! I'll be glad when this cage is done. It's a love/hate thing. Very gratifying, but too stressful.

Only have a minute to update....
The rear bars are just propped in place and need a little fine-tuning, but it's getting there.

    Pretty close to plan.

Looks better in reality than it did in the drawing...I do like the little support angle bars on the main center hoop. They help visually connect and blend the angle of the front and center hoop (that angle rearward) with the rear hoop that is angled forward. Without them it would look much less aesthetically pleasing.

Are those a crt tv and a vhs? Did you do that so the jeep feels younger?

ITlKSEZ, would you consider bending some tubing for my roll bar? I will do the welding, I just don't have a nice bender like you. Mine would be simpler. No running tubing on the sides. Thanks.

And take my time away from this?? :D

Not that I wouldn't, but shipping it 3000 miles would likely make the price unrealistic. Do a local search for fabricators in your area. There are guys all over who do this stuff as a hobby. I'll bet Donny would have connections?

Sounds fair. Let's see if Donny has some info on local shops.

Now for the hate mail. :coffee: I know how you guys hate jungle gyms. I wanted some cross bracing, but I don't want it to look too busy or to obstruct views, so I kept it all in the upper deck. It will most likely always be covered with some sort of a bikini top anyway.

Center bars are just propped in place. I want to think about this before I make it permenant.

Sr, your fab skills are superb! Are you mig or tig welding them? When I grow up...

I've seen worse.... Actually looks pretty darn good from the 2nd picture...the top photo looks a little unbalanced or unequal from the different angles, but nobody is going to see it from that POV anyway (unless you are open top with a drone following you around). And certainly have no suggestions that would be better - seems like you got it about as good as it can be....more like a spider web than a jungle gym so carry on.

MIG. I have limited TIG experience, so even if I had a TIG welder, I'm pretty sure I could still lay a better/stronger bead with a MIG.

I'm self-teaching tig with a huge Miller I have at work. My mig is from cardboard freight. It works fine for sheet metal, but I don't know if I would trust it for structural welding. Which unit do you have? I want to convert it to DCEN to improve it. Anyways, awesome fabrication and welding skills!
