It's in. All appears to be well at the moment. Shafts both went in all the way after taking all apart and putting it back together again. Just have to torque down the bearing caps. The I can put the spindles and brakes back on this thing and sling it under the JEEP. (Like it'll be that easy.)

Thank you gentlemen, for the help and guidance and support. There is more to do but, it's all stuff I've done before so, I'm hoping I'm over the hump.

This place is the best. I could not have done this without the people here. I will do my best to pass on the knowledge I have gained.

You wanna da pictures? I take-a da pictures.

Almost ready to go back under the JEEP.

    The metallic beast at rest.

The new 11" brakes. Nuts and lock washers holding everything to the knuckle studs. I had my first experience with a beam style torque wrench with these nuts. I bought one a Sears since I didn't have a torque wrench that was accurate to this low a value. I kinda like the beam style, for this anyway. I can understand how it can be difficult to read it, though, it some situations. But, I like it.

The '71 waiting, ever so patiently, for it's axle. I haven't heart to tell it the rear axle is next.

    The next step.

I have a dana 27 powr-lok I purchased from another member a few years ago that I am getting ready to install. It came from a IH Scout. When I opened up the unit, I was surprised to find it only has one set of 5 clutch discs compared to two sets of 5 clutches in my Dana 44 powr-lok. The convex dished plate faces the opposite direction as to what I am used to in the Model 70/80 powr-lok. Do any of you happen to know what the proper disc order/positions should be in the Dana 27 Powr-lok? Thanks!

Here ya go. You're missing clutches. Should have 5 on each side.

Depends on the thickness of the clutch discs, how they are stacked, and how aggressively they are set up.
The picture Wheelie posted is one of the factory setups and probably the most common. It does work well.
