Picked this 74 up a couple weeks ago and knew about the Dana 44' swaps with positive camber issues. I figured I would pick up some shims but looked at the assembly before and noticed this....

Looks like a shim (lighter silver) is in there upside down already!!!!!. It does taper thinner as it goes down. Before I go digging in, I wanted to get everyone's opinion. The camber angle looks more than the normal 1.5 so the PO probably doubled the situation by putting them in upside down....

    Opinions????????

That's what I thought. My main question was is the silver part actually a shim or is it part of the knuckle? From what I see online, the knuckle has a pretty smooth section and it would also be black like the painted spindle. Must be a shim.....

The thin tapered silvery wedge is called a Cosmo shim and typically used to adjust camber. They come in lots of different degrees of taper.

Do you have a Dana 44 on the front? Original is an open Dana 30.

Most people with 30s need this socket, available from the Jeep retailers A692 Spindle Nut Wrench

44 on front. That's the reason the PO added camber shims...I'm pretty sure it's the one with the 4 lugs on the end of the socket but wanted to be sure..........

Started pulling the hubs to flip the spacer. I was greeted by new, clean parts and a nut I am not familiar with (3rd photo). It measures 2" across the flats. Obviously not the Dana nut. Any input to what style this is so I can search the assembly instructions and torque ratings? I'm guessing I need a 2" nut socket and could use a link if a preferred part is suggested.
