Been searching and, while there is plenty of info, I have yet to find the spicer part number for the Dana 27 axle shaft u joint. Anyone have it? Thinking that while my axle is apart, I might as well do the u joints on the shafts.

Looking for the spicer number. Not a chinese made number from Omix or somewhere. Thank you.

I would look closely at what you have. Original Spicer joints unless obviously damaged are probably much better quality then a replacement will be.

Agreed. I will take a closer look at them. If I buy, I will only buy Spicer of Neapco. Not sure of Moog's quality. Never used them.

I'd just be really mad at myself if I put the thing back together only to find I have a bad joint and have to take it apart again. Not the end of the world but, I hate doing stuff twice.

    Thanks for the number, Ron.

The only real difference between the joints is the 5-260x has seals and the other one listed doesn't.

Thank ye, gentlemen. I recall a conversation about simply removing the seal if you end up with that type.

Project creep is killing me. Ugh. I need some OT monies.

So Daryl, you think a new Spicer joint would be of lesser quality than an old one? Curious as to why. I can see an off brand being of comprimised quality but, I would think a Spicer brand part would be fine.

I don't believe that anyone is really making an attempt to manufacture high quality parts anymore. Even Moog stuff is offshore now. It is simply all about profit, not quality. I have had good luck swapping 27 axles into earlier 25 fronts and don't ever remember changing an original Spicer joint on one

Well, I have 2 sets of axle shafts laying here, for a 27. One has nice seal surfaces but the u joints both feel loose. The other set has tight u joints but crappy seal surfaces. I might just swap the u joints around to make one good set of shafts and one set of trail spares.
