Does the chevy disc brake setup have an anti rattle clip on one or both of the pads? I only really remember a clip to hold the pad to the brake piston. I am finding my outer pad is quite loose on the caliper and I would like get it snugged down to chase down rattles on the rig.

The inner pad is the only one with a clip. The outer is held tight by bending the tabs that wrap over the caliper. Usually done by tapping tabs with a small hammer to get tight fit.

I have always used the red silicon on the outside pad and never had an issue with rattles.

X2 on what n6ifp and Thorwon said. I do both on my pads.

Standard procedure is to bend the tabs to fit as tight as possible and to use copper antiseize (nickel will work too but I prefer copper) or synthetic brake grease between the caliper body and the back of the pad
You do not want the pad moving around as that causes noise. The grease or antiseize lubricates and insulates the metal contact between the pad and caliper body so vibrations are not transferred into the suspension causing noise.
For years I used the "Orange Goop" until I realized it took forever to dry properly, and if not applied very evenly it caused abnormal pad to rotor contact. It's pretty much fallen out of favor with most professionals for this reason. Ymmv of course.

Here is how the pad rattles in the caliper

Is this the tab you bend?

And do you bent it down, or to the side? It looks like it goes down and then the tabs on the upper and lower will sandwich the pad to the caliper. Is this true? I was trying to use a punch and bend the tab to the caliper and it is a PIA. Is it better to do it off the jeep or on the jeep?

Bend it down, against the caliper. I stick a tapered cold chisel in between the bottom of the pad plate and the rotor hat to hold it, then use a hammer and drift or punch to bend the tab down.

You can sometimes use a big (!) pair of channel locks to squeeze it down

Everything is all tight now. you know this is one of those things that probably should be added to all disc brake conversion. i have never seen any mention of the tabs being hammered to make pad tighter to caliper. Now to install a new trash compactor and then go for test ride in the jeep
