1974 CJ5 Dana 30 front end. This is still parts from the donor Jeep. The guy I picked it up from did not know anything about it other than he decidea he no longer wanted to fix it.

I'm trying to identify the calipers and rotors so I can replace my drums. However, if I can't figure out what they are I will shy away from them because I will not know what parts to replace them with as they wear out.

As you can see there was some wear issues on 15 inch wheels with the current backspace.

Those are the Ford style calipers. I believe they are 76-78 CJ.

Those brakes Look like the factory setup for the "Big Brake" Jeep package in 1977-1978.........should be a 1.190" thick vented rotor Raybestos # 5020R using a Raybestos #FRC-4086 Caliper on the right side and a #4085 on the left side......This is a single 3.100"piston Caliper. This is a very good front brake system that Jeep borrowed off of a either Ford or GM 1/2 and 3/4 ton Pickups .................what does the caliper bracket look like on the rear? Post a picture.....Is it attached using 6 bolts bolted to the hub? Look at the casting numbers on the Caliper and post those also...........I would just rebuild the front brakes and you will be good to go! Parts are no issue for what you have there. Post pictures to confirm!

I will get better pics but already had this one. Is this the number I need to clarify for the casting number?[IMG]

If you were to install the correct caliper slider bolt your clearance problem should magically disappear.

Pulling that one might be a challenge given the wear on it. How would one find a number for the correct slider bolt? Of course I guess I need to verify the calipers and how it mounts first.

That photo does not do much to help to identify............does your caliper mounting bracket look like this? ( Now this bracket shown has twelve (12) holes as I redrilled it to rotate it to a different position, yours will only have 6 holes) This is what is commonly referred to in that late 70's Jeep front Disc brake era as the 6-bolt bracket.........there is also a 2-bolt bracket But the brakes that I believe you have are the 6-bolt. (Note: If you were to walk into your local Napa parts house and ask for calipers , pads or rotors for a 77-80 Jeep front w/ disc brakes , the first question they would ask is: What bracket to you have? 2 or 6 bolts?) Although the easier question really would be do you have vented or solid rotors? Vented goes with the 6-bolt set-up.
You say that this is a 1974 D-30 front axle? And it could very well be that or perhaps that is incorrect...........There is a "BOM" Bill of materials number stamped on that axle tube facing rear on the long side tube.......getting that would help........but in reality someone could have just transplanted the later brake package on the early axle.......the stuff all interchanges and has been done many times before. I would take your stuff off take it to Napa or your favorite store? and tell them it came off of a 78 CJ with a 6 bolt mount and see what there parts look like as compared to what you brought in.........that will solve it. But if it looks like the stuff in the pictures it is a 78 CJ 6-bolt setup.

I knew that photo wasn't the best, I was just curious if that was the number I needed. I haven't pulled it down ant farther than in that picture so I can't say if it's a 6 hole bracket and today is my Monday, so no more investigation time this week. I work nights and family stuff takes up any non sleep time during the day.

However, I really appreciate all the help that has been given by this group of folks.

The calipers in the picture are '76-'76 CJ large brake, '75ish to '80 Scout 2, and some 1/2 ton Ford.
