i will get a photo tomorrow for you after work when i get to the shop.. But yes strange to me as well but it worked.. We took it out on the maiden voyage. To our local desert Ocotillo Wells yesterday. The old cj came to life and she has some serious get up and go! Very pleased with how it handled off road. And wow the 4.89 low is is super cool and helped out great a couple times..We will have to do some shock placement arranging but besides that it was a very fun ride!

Yes we put in 6degree caster shims and it no longer hits the springs . I still want to do the tierod flip but we need one more bushing and yes we would just drill the tierod end out and insert the bushing just like on the knuckle.

I did the tie rod flip and had to use a very specific reamer for the bushings to work correctly. Unless the bushings are different than what I bought you will need the reamer.

I just ordered the weld in inserts, I already have a 3/4" drill bit and my knuckles are already drilled out the 5/8" since the PO installed heim ends. I ordered 3 inserts made by TMR customs, they are half the price of the goferit ones. Total was about $30 delivered from daves offroad supply.

Nice, yeah let me know how the inserts work for you! How do you like your Saginaw 4 speed, any issues? I have yet to open mine up and go through it but as of now I've noticed that 2nd gear can be kind of tough to get into .. I have a cheaper model Hurst shifter, I guess the "competition Hurst shifter" is the one that works best.. do you have much experience with these?

I have the competition plus shifter. I have driven allot of different muscle cars and race cars with shifters and when they are set up correctly they are great. Mine is ok, I don't care for the linkage the the po installed but I think that it will work better with new bushings on the linkage and washers to shim the cotter pin side. My Saginaw is the 3 ring input shaft with 3.50 first gear, I will be opening it up soon to install a breather in it, it currently pukes oil out of the 3/4 shifter shaft hole in the side cover. Is yours vented?

Most Saginaw's do not have a vent in the main case or a drain for that matter as the vent was in the stock tailhousing. To drain them you removed the bottom tailhousing bolt. I add a drain to the case and have started adding a vent right above the opening for the side shifter housing. This also minimizes the oil from being pumped into the transfer case. There were some oddball truck applications that had a vent in the main case and that's what I replicated on mine.

Nickmil, is there any way you can point me to a picture of where you are locating your vent?

I don't have a pic handy and can't seem to find one on the internet but I think the one I have in storage I've put the vent in. I will try and get a pic next time I'm at the storage unit. Hopefully this weekend.
