Have been working on buttoning up some of the smaller systems, but jumped the gun last night and hung a fender to get the dryer mounted..

Starting to look like a Jeep

Stupid stumbling block update…. more like the PITA list:

. AMC V8 PCV valve issue...
basically what it boils down to is STD V164 and GV7grommet..
had a hard time hunting down the correct stuff after lots ofbad attempts
. PS pump and Pressure line issue
Later pump with earlier line = SAE vs. Metric
after crushing a couple of lines I actually took a look andthe later Grand Wagoner pump used an O ring, pressure line is invertedflare.. found an adapter fitting. Ohh and simple answer of switching to anearlier pump… no go, different pulley setup
. wiring... it’s a PITA! I have problems with leaving things good enough and every time I think I’mready to fire I find a reason not to.. cooler weather might make sitting in the garage more tolerable. Already chasing some issues.
. D30 cover… even with zero miles and a lube locker gasket I’mleaking oil… go figure
. passenger fender is on.. so now I need a fender blanket orsomething, just my luck the kids will bang something into it.

Its a jeep - the the first scratch out of the way now... it will still hurt, but it's gonna happen if you use a jeep for what a jeep is for ;)

Nice.........Might think about putting some rubber bead or just the ultra-thin black rubber between the grill , fender & body.........Not stock I know but will help keep it from chaffing and rusting that pretty paint.....

and soon after stumbling block comes the first issue...

been having an issue with the electrical system.
much of the harness and dash is hooked up more or less. I was testing circuits by toggling switches etc as usual.
Wiper switch was not working, took power wire off to check and no juice.
turned ignition switch off then on again, still no juice
repeated and now no ignition (Howell FP etc)

pulled maxi fuse and cursed and screamed..
came back to it after a beverage, put max fuse in and had ignition, but still no wiper power.

cycle continued again before I called it a night.

absolutely going to call painless today, but has anybody run into something like this?
could it be miss wiring or a faulty electrical product? Harness bad?
My grounds are solid.. I have been paying very close attention to them.

Little update on my electrical issue and web wheeling trail damage…

Electrical gremlins ended up being some poor spadeconnectors on the ignition switch..
I have to say the painless harness is very easy to troubleshooteven for an electrical dolt like me.
Ignition switch acts as a distribution for Acc. and dashpower… wasn’t getting a good connection from the main power supply.

Web wheeling trail damage is being defined as:
The act of redoing whatone already did due to better or worse information found on the internet, most likelyprovided by people who haven’t actually done the modification or repair.

Ended up swapping out my PS pump for another unit. O ring vs. Flare pressure line fitting wasgetting to me..
Then of course there are the different pulley setups to contendwith. Ended up using a Wagoneer pump andpulley, CJ pressure line and an adapter fitting. Made some mounting studs instead of bolts andshould be all good.

    Time for a real update...
Still tackling some of the more PITA wiring chores.. trying to button up the dash so I can perm mount the Heat/AC unit.
Working on the turn signal switch and other dash wire chores.
gauge cluster is kinda working, need to spend some time in there with a test light.
Still need to cut another hole in the dash for the aux switch pod... just want to get the wires I have in there already termed and functioning.
Got the air handler all mocked up.
AC lines shouldn't be an issue.. it will be tight under there, but manageable.
Going to need to replace the bulk coolant lines with some 90 deg elbows to allow for best coolant flow.

Both fenders on and perm mounted...
starting to load up the interior with crap... It was a small celebration when both the coolant and washer fluid fell snuggly into place. I think I am going to add some weather pack connectors in the main harness if the fender or grill ever needs to come off..

Rear of the Jeep came out nice..
just need to drill holes for the tailgate and fabricate a way to latch it. (Factory tub had chain tabs.. not present on Aqualu)
threw the trans into reverse and to my surprise the single diode backup light switched on. I think I'm going to use these on the YJ so I can finally be street legal after all these years.

Motor is purring and after swapping out the driver side valve cover gasket and a new copper washer in the oil filter housing i'm running leak free, for now....
Still haven't ran it for more than a few min.. given that I don't have a full exhaust system on the truck.
Need to get a good period where I'm home alone for a half hour to break this sucker in.
A short little video of it running... with good PC speakers you can hear the grunt!

Looks real nice...........I'm curious on the AC , does that unit require the cowl vent for outside air? or does it just recirculate inside air?
On your heater hose's I'm sure your aware there are plenty of pre-formed / bent 90 degree and other angled hoses from various automotive applications out there that may work.....

no cowl vent.. seems to me it will be on constant recirculation..
not a bad thing IMO.. considering how much the AAC will actually get used...

And yes.. there are plenty of 5/8", 90 deg molded heater hose pn's available..
went down to the warehouse and picked 2 out... when I made the original lines I didn't factor the distance from the heater core tubes to the firewall..

OK, so 24 pages ago, you towed home a rusty hardtopped CJ6 with a 304 in it. I'm still wondering what, if any, parts came off the original project?

    BTW: EXCELLENT WORK!
