Hey all- got a couple repro back-up lights for the Jeep, but I figured before I wire them to a switch on the dash I should ask... how were they originally activated? Was there or is there a switch on the trans to activate the back-up lights?

Cool! I'll go on the hunt today and see if the switch is still there. I assume it's accessible through the tunnel?

Yep. Take up the floor plate and it's there.

Thanks! Yeah, pulled the cover and found the switch, and surprisingly, it's working. I put the test light on it and shifted to reverse and voila. So, now I need to track down the wiring to the rear of the tub and done. The POs really hacked up the wiring on this thing. Even did stupid stuff like painting over the windshield washer nozzles! I put a new washer reservoir w/ motor today and it was like I wasn't getting any fluid to the nozzles. Sure enough, I scrapped the paint off the nozzles and good to go. It's working now as well. I have a feeling that most of the work I'll be doing on this CJ will be just fixing the POs half-assing...

That looks like the switch to my Warner T14A transmission. Would you happen to know where I could get that? Thanks.

Just google "back up light switch". Plenty of places sell them.
