I'm looking for boomerang shackles for our 75 cj5.
    Is there reason why 76 cj5 shackles can't be put on a 75 cj5?
    Thanks!

The springs are a different width. Won't fit.

Almost everything changes for the 1976 model year.

    Welcome from Boston.

    Thanks for the welcome.
what can I do for my rear springs that keep inverting on me?
    I thought about longer shackles.
hate to spend money on things that don't work.
    Thanks!

The bigger question should be why are they inverting? Are they shorter springs? what angle are the shackles at with the weight on the jeep? Any pictures?

Yep, you'd think that the springs are too short.

Assuming your talking about the shackles laying up against the frame opposite the fixed end ( Front) ? ................If someone put lift in it the springs due to the added arch required to do so that will have a shorter static starting length.........and no longer shackles will do no good!
As someone else mentioned at what position is your rear shackle in degrees at rest? If it is near vertical or leaning towards the front fixed end that is your problem..........the shackle at rest should be leaning towards the rear about 20+ degree's.

Ok, first of all I bought Jeep as is. It had Skyjacker lift decals at the end of the springs. I looked up that number and it verified that those springs are indeed for a 75 cj5. I went to find that decal again and it is come off. The shackle does angle to the rear of the Jeep about 20 degrees. It will invert on slightest of bumps with just the wife in there. She wanted a beater jeep so that is what she got. I seem to have replaced most everything mechanical on this....

I haven't been able to post a pic here yet. Still trying to figure it out.

    Thanks!!!

It's possible a new lift will not solve all your problems. It might be easier to relocate the hanger brackets or shackle brackets to get the geometry correct. If you are looking for boomerang shackles, you could make these work http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Wrangl...es&fits=Make:Jeep&hash=item3f2e4ba942&vxp=mtr

I bought a set for mine and cut 1/2" off the spacer and re threaded the bolts. I have 76+ springs on mine and 2.5" wide on the back though.

I have seen stops welded to the frame to prevent the shackles from going way over center. However, this was on a factory racer prepared for some journalists, and was more intended to keep the front springs from bending due to a collision with a berm or big rock or such. You should not need to do this on a daily driver Jeep.

It would likely fix your problem, however.

I picture would be great...........the rear shackles if already at 20 degree's leaning towards the rear can be run at as much as 45 degree's.........without pictures it almost sound like your springs have such a tight arch yet and have not settled down or relaxed some.........normally with a new lifted spring you would like to see the initial starting angle at the shackle at about 15-20 degrees and then after some trail use it normally relaxes so that it runs at 20-45 degrees.......the only way to correct it would be to move either fixed end on the frame.............add a little ballast in the rear to collapse the spring some or tack weld in a stop temporarily or permanent for that matter to limit the forward motion of the shackle .........I would think it would only want to go negative or forward coming over a driveway hump or driving fast over a bump or jump when the suspension is at full droop?
