Hello from the other side of the pond.
Not knowing too much about flat fenders I have an issue understanding what exactly I bought.
Bought an cj3B some months ago. Finally picked it up. The gentleman selling gave me lots of spare parts with it.
Ok, axle, trans t18 and diff etc is from a 71 CJ5 "heavy duty" ? from Switzerland still got the 4 cylinder (have to check which one) in there.
Reading the papers I checked the vin and it seems she is a 53 last series CJ3A - with the looks of a 3B?

    VIN 453GB114xxx

Will upload pics, have some trouble uploading right now.
    Any ideas?

Looks like a '72-'75 CJ-5 frame by the front crossmember with a 3b body on it.

Confusion! Has there been a Post deleted?
Hasn't someone replied about changed VIN numbers?

I've parked the jeep at a friends place, when I'm over, will Check for the different numbers to get an idea of the Puzzle.

BTW anyone from twin falls Idaho here? That's where the Jeep came from.

A post was deleted due to it's content being questionable at best regarding legality.
I have in laws all over Idaho including Twin Falls area and we have members in Idaho. Tumbleweed is in Boise iirc.

Ultimately I'd discreetly ask the local Department of Motor Vehicles or equivalent and ask "what if questions" as if you were considering a purchase. Laws vary greatly from state to state. Some are very stringent and some are easier to deal with. I'd make sure I spoke to someone knowledgeable. If they seem unsure then find someone else. I'd also double check the state laws yourself. Most are online.

Thank you to explain that removed post.
The jeep is in Europe/Germany since 2001.
The authorities when licencing the car, do not check for the period correct VIN as long the Frame VIN Equals the VIN mentioned in the title and customs declaration what is the case.

The technical Inspection will check if the Technology is somehow period correct.
There the trouble could show up. Since a CJ3a does look different than a 3b.
I could get through with it since in 53 there has been a model change.
Who knows what somebody changed the last 60years.

I checked that VIN on the public access NICB website and it comes back not having been reported stolen. Call a Dept of Motor Vehicles office anywhere in the US and they will tell you where to find other identifying numbers possibly another VIN number location. Run that VIN also on NICB website if it's different than the one you already now of.
