'68 wiper arm

When I picked up my '68 CJ5, the wipers did not work. I noticed the wipers were locked up because the passenger side blade was hanging up on the top of the windshield frame.

Then I noticed the driver's side arm was approximately 9.25" long whereas the passenger side was more like 10.75-11.00" long which was causing the problem with the 12" blades that were on it.

When I started looking around, I noticed that 10 7/8" arms were available for CJ's with a stationary windshield but nothing was listed for a fold down windshield.

If it helps, this is a '68 with the wiper motor at the bottom.

Searching has left me more confused than informed. I see some talking about a 9" blade instead of a 12", but it seems that is a "rig" rather than a fix

Pretty sure this is a common situation, so can anyone shed some light on the problem?

 

Uh, CJ's pretty much all had fold down windshields where many DJ's did not.
Napa had an adjustable arm that was adjustable for length as well as angle if you're not doing a restoration. They aren't super cheap but work quite well. There were matching wiper blades that work well with '68-'75 windshields with bottom mount wipers.

I searched Napa after seeing that arm mentioned here previously, but the only thing they now list is a 10 7/8" arm and a 10 " blade.

Places like Rock Auto don't differentiate between CJ and DJ. They show the long arm for a CJ and mention the stationary windshield. One would think with the number of CJ's on the road, there would be a replacement for them, but...

I also saw an adjustable Anco mentioned here, but have not found one in the shorter length as of yet.

Okay this should do it Anco 41-01 as adjustable from 8-11", that should do it
