Just joined up, and thought I'd start out with a puzzler:

I just picked up a '60 CJ5 with a 225, and went to replace the motor mounts. Like previous posts here said, I ordered two Napa motor mounts, 602-1390 and 60-1006. When I went to put them on, no dice. The new ones were a lot bigger, both wider and longer, although the bolt pattern did fit the block.

After looking around in some Buick forums, I think I might have the old smaller mounts used in '64 - they were recalled and replaced with the bigger ones. Does anyone here recognize mine as being the old small ones?

If it was just the width, I could add spacers, but the distance/length is too big as well. I might just have a Bubba-tech setup where they grabbed whatever mounts were handy. The bracket they bolt to is obviously homemade.

If I do have the old ones, does anyone know a source for new ones or have any old spare ones? I'd rather not start cutting and welding on her just yet - we just got home. I may have to get them rebuilt, but want to be sure they really are the old style 225 mounts.

    Thanks,

I just can't wrap my head around this last pic? Your info requested is for a 225 Dauntless. The pic I see is not of a 225 V6 Dauntless. Starter and oil filter is on the wrong side!

I think that's a passenger side pic at an odd angle Walt. Look at the rotation of the starter.

    Walt,

Nickmil's got it - I was on the passenger side, under the front bumper - shooting towards the back/passenger side of the vehicle.

    thanks

Figured it out - I evidently have a 198 Fireball, not a 225 Dauntless, according to the casting numbers (B1349430). Knowing that, I was able to find the correct motor mounts.
