I have been draining and cleaning everything on my Jeep! I have the 225 v-6 mated to a three speed 14? but also have WARN overdrive and off the back of that I have a RAMSEY PTO. What oil do I use? I have heard that some oils can harm the yellow metals such as brass. I see that my trans and T-case have oil fill holes but how do i get oil into the overdrive and PTO?

Try and use GL-4. GL-5 can damage some brass/bronze components.
Overdrive feeds from the transfercase so fill transfer case, drive it, and recheck. Pto should fill from the bottom plug for the mounting bolts.

Where can I find non synthetic GL4?

    I couldn't find the stuff so I used straight 50 in my T-18. I rather use GL4 I'm sure it's less expensive.

Wouldn't it be better to run auto fluid in the trans instead of a straight 50w?

Last I read novak site they recommend 50w if GL4 wasn't available now it looks like they changed their stands a bit.

"Hypoid gear oil is sulphurized higher than transmission oil and can be mildly corrosive to the non-ferrous alloys used for synchros, bushings and thrust washers in these transmissions.

An 80W-90, API-GL5 or MT-1 rated fluid is very good. Some claim faster shifts from using a 50W engine oil in their transmission and we do not consider this to be contraindicated unless you operate your vehicle in a very warm environment." Novak

Doug, was it straight GL4 or GL5 that's covers GL4? Was it Napa's brand or other?

I did get dedicated GL-4 80w/90 at my FLAPS, but it took some time and effort (convincing them I wasn't crazy), and was a special order.

A lot of antique tractor folks, and Troybilt tiller owners have this same issue, and may be a source of assistance.

Check farm or tractor supply shops. Most parts stores can get it but usually must be ordered unless in a rural area. Also requires a counter person willing to work with you.

Tractor Supply called back they don't stock it nor able to get it.

However, I did find Sta-lube at Napa for $31 a gallon.
