A couple of months back they did a Buick 350. Might be of interest to some Jeepers. I sent an E-Mail asking for a F 134 but never heard anything.

For that amount of money, why start with a 360?

401 builds dyno about 500 hp pretty regularly, or so claim their owners.

I have seen 401s' here from time to time but they said "why pay the big bucks for a rare engine when you can get decent power from a 360". They went thru quite a bit of effort to fix the thrust on the 360 crank becuase it was "rare".

That's what I like about this, they follow up with actual dyno results.

    nickmil In mothballs.

401's around here are getting very hard to find, bring a premium, and usually require a lot of reconditioning whereas 360's are pretty easy to find in running and decent condition.

    nwedgar Now with TBI!

So I ran across this CL ad in ATL today for a 401, for only $11,500 (yes 11K). It looks fantastic, but look at what the guy thinks it will dyno at for that money...450HP? Now compare that to the $6,500 built 360.

    Somebody could have done better.

All I know is I wish I could get stuff for the prices the guys on the 'Power Block' get. I could save a heap of cash that way as well ;)

It's certainly easier to build power when you're spending someone else's money. ;)
I enjoy HPTV but they get handed thousands of dollars worth of go fast goodies in each show.

Well, the induction system accounts for more than a third of the asking price and the heads are another $1100 so probably not too out-of-line. That engine is almost an AMC duplicate of how the 381 sbc is set up in my 3B.

And how many 1310's you go through depends on how you drive itR)

I have yet to just destroy one although they do wear out faster than I would consider normal but some of that's due to my great driveshaft length.

Hummmm, I have seen that ad before.

I don't know where I saw this but not on Atlanta Craigslist.
