From the service manual, regarding transfer case disassembly, tool W-139 used "to wedge the front bearing cone and roller assembly from it's seat......": Has anyone made one and, if so, do you have a detailed description of your fab work? I saw where someone made one from a cheap hatchet but, I'd rather do something a bit less crude. Is there some other way to do the job of this tool? I'd really like to make a W-139. It would be a fun little project and useful while doing my first t-case rebuild. Thanks.

I'll have to look at the service manual to see what it looks like but Ive always used a blunted chisel or a pry bar to move the bearing out. The steep angled blunted chisel works like a charm. I suspect the special tool was something similar.

Can you post a photo, I have a forked tool that looks like a pickle fork that I made for my transfercase. I'll look for it tommorrow.

The tool does resemble a pickle fork with a shorter "handle" but, with an equal taper on both sides rather than a flat on one side and a taper on the other. The pic in the manual is pretty small. Not sure if I could scan it then post it.

I always tapped a chisel between the gear and bearing to push the bearing on down the shaft.
