i have recently noticed that when i step on the brakes my jeep pulls pretty hard to one side, usually the left but sometimes to the right. when i bought the jeep, i had all brakes inspected, readjusted and bled. they told me everything looked just fine. is this normal for a manual brake setup w/ 10" drums? i havnt decided if im going to put pwr brakes or 11" drums in the front, but i'd like to end this pull if i could. any help would be great.thanks :stout:

My 9" brakes scared you brake in traffic. I put 11" front drums on and the problem went away. THe 11" has self adjusting hardware. The 9" did not, and I do not know about the 10".

That brake upgrade was the best of the few modifications I have made to my jeep and would recommend it to anyone. If you can find the backing plates, the rest of parts should cost less that $ 200.00.

Sounds like a possibility of a couple of things here. Check the brake adjustment first. If ok, then check wheel bearings for play, tie rod ends, spring bushings, spring u-bolts, Knuckle bearings, etc. for play. All of these can contribute to a pull that is not consistent from side to side. If it was consistent to just one side then I would say check for adjustment first, then contaminated linings (brake fluid or grease), and for frozen or stuck components like wheel cylinders, adjusters, grooves in the backing plates causing shoes to hang up, etc.
On another note, hope to see you Sunday!
