Pondering Pedal Particulars

I'm back to work on my Jeep and I'm torn between using a set of intermediate CJ pedals or YJ pedals in my A1.

I have both pedal assemblies in my shop. Some quick measurements told me that both sets have approximately the same pedal ratio (about 5:1) though the YJ pedals are a little longer overall.

I like the idea of the intermediate pedals, but the round part where the brake pedal pushrod mounts (don't know what you call that) is pretty worn.
The YJ pedals are obviously a lot newer and their design looks more robust than the older ones, but I'm concerned about the length.

I'm stuck. I guess I'm just thinking too much.

    Which ones would you use?

    nickmil In mothballs.

You can also shorten the YJ pedals easily by cutting pedal pad off the arm, bending the arm at the length you want, and welding the pedal pad back onto the arm.

on the pedal, you could probably weld some on it to give it some more metal and sand it down till it fits, kind of labor intensive but works. i would think it would be easier than cutting and modifying the YJ stuff... plus do you really want square headlight stuff on the cj... ;) It may reject them :)

Many good ideas above. I think I'm just going to use the YJ stuff. The Jeep is already more Chevy than Jeep so I don't think the Jeep will be mad if I use Chrysler pedals.

Yesterday I put the windshield, dash, and steering column in to get a feel for where the driver's seat might go. Seeing it start to look more like a Jeep really has me excited. Pedal mounting and rollcage construction starting next week!
