Pics of tire Carrier on Jeep

Here you guys go. I painted it all up tonight. I just have to make the mount for the tire to actually bolt to, but i ran out of torch gas But i ended up using a socket welded to a nut that was welded to a piece of threaded rod to hold the carrier to the bumper. You will need a ratchet to remove the bolt to swing out the tire carrier but that is fine since i do not open it much and it prevent theft or vandalism. I did do the Dan Stewart 200 lb test and it held up fine. Only issue i do not like is it does wiggle a bit when you grab onto and shake it, but i am not sure if it is the hole jeep moving or just the carrier. so i just need to take it on the trail and see if it holds up.

if i want to swing the carrier out i ubolt the whoel thing nad it will swing out. I got my higne from Trout industries. I was just going to get the outer sleeve but when i ordred it it was on back order and he had the whole spindle kit, so i just decided to get it all since it was going to be about the same price if i went and got the spindle and bearings from northern Tool. I used 3x3 square tubing abotu 12 gauge. And the sides to the cooler rack is 1x2 1/8 thick square tubing.

 

Not sure about the weight of it. I think the top portion weighs about 50-60 lbs. and the bumper is abotu 35-40. Not sure if that is average weight for a swing out carrier setup, but i really am not that overkill on teh thickness of metal or anything. I am debating making a way of mounting the sides of the cooler rack to the bracket that the tailgate chains goto. this may give me a bit better support for the rack and prevent anyforward and backward movmennt. I think tha location would do muc hdamage to the body since it is just a point to help support it, not a main wight bearing point.
