33x10.5's Vs 33x12.50's Help Me Choose

Depends on use. For my use the 12.50’s work extremely well and have since 1987. But I’m on the West coast and conditions here may be markedly different from other parts of the country.
I originally ran 8” wheels but later went to 10” wide and have been happier. Flatter tread footprint, better handling, better traction. Just have to be more mindful about airing down.
Just my experience and opinion for my use. That and $5 may get you a cup of coffee. (I don’t drink coffee so guessing on that cost).

 

I have 33x12.5 tires on 8" wide wheels and i have no complaints on how they perform on the street or offroad.

 

I feel like we could take the tires off of Tom's rims and he could still show us how to get it done.......
Steve was also on 33x10.5's and did quite well in 2wd. I never felt like I had any grip issues with the lockers front and rear, mostly ground clearance hanging me up.

 

The 33x12.5's dried up. I went to buy a really nice set of Km2's in 33x10.5 and the guy changed the deal on me when I got there.....
A buddy of mine pointed me toward a set of 33x10.5's BFG Ko's. Old tread pattern, late 2014 vintage, but the tires literally are brand new rubber nubs intact. Bought and stored in a garage for a jeep project that never came to be. Even come mounted on some aluminum 5x5.5 wheels.
Price is so right...... I could probably buy, dismount from jeep pattern rims and sell the tires for a profit. We will see what time I got out of work today......

1 clear advantage to the 12.50's is that every one under the sun makes tires in that size...there's pretty limited selection of 10.50's.

 

Because they work.

 

I think it would have been more fun if I titled this thread...... Black wheels/white wheels/aluminum wheels/ with 10.5 or 12.5 wide tires.....

yes.... With the YJ springs the rear end moves back just enough when it flexes and the wide tires won't stuff

 

33x12.5’s on 10” rims for me since 1991... BFG and Goodyear, both MT and AT, exclusively. No issues ever wheeling in Wa, Ca, Va, NC and Fl (mtns, rocks, beach, limited mud) except for the aforementioned rear tires hitting at full stuff. I have considered going to an 8” wide wheel on my next go ‘round... just because! However, I like to stick to what has worked... for me.

 

Sounds just like me and my Jeep.

 

I vote, narrow one and light one.

I picked up the set of brand new KO’s in 33x10.5 mounted on some aluminum 5x5.5 rims. Cost me $300 including the gas to get them. Seller wanted them out of his way..... pics after the weekend

 

Here is what I picked up late last weekend. The wheels say superior industries, Made in USA. 15x8. If the offset isn't to my liking I may throw the tires on my 7" steel wheels and sell these. The metal valve stems will have to get replaced with rubber, but they are a ready to run set.
