So my oil pan is almost completely rusted through, so much so that the entire bottom of it stays damp with oil. I am trying to find another one and would prefer to have a new one if I can find it. Problem is, I have yet to see any. Does anyone know where I might be able to locate one? I am trying to get it replaced before a gravel or something goes through it. Thanks.

I just realized that is a horrendous price. Dorman makes repos should be in the $50 range

Used - 65 CUTLASS OIL PAN

I looked at the Dorman site and saw nothing for a 225. Unlikely Dorman will make a pan for such a old/scarce application.

I was really hoping for a new repo. I definitely don't have the funds to spend almost $200 on a used oil pan. Any possibility I could cut the bottom out of it and weld in a new section? It is just the very bottom that is rusted, most likely from years of neglect/no paint.

You could take it to a welding shop and see it they can patch it. Not unheard of. But it may cost more than the used pan from eBay.

Just wondering, would a 14 bolt oil pan from a later (75-83) 231 work? They look to be the same and those are plentiful. Granted I am only comparing pictures because I'm not near my Jeep.

I've used JB Weld on an oil pan before.

i think my oil pan with the skid plate is actually from a 225 and i have a 231 with it bolted to. i don't think a 231 would have that skid plate on there as they were only car engines

231 did not have a skid plate. I added one to mine. The early 231 SAE oil pans may be the same. The later metric units are different bolt pattern. A gasket part number from each may tell if different.

Thanks guys. My current oil pan doesn't have a skid plate so I'm not that concerned about that. The part number for the gaskets are the same so I think I'm going to order one and see.

The gaskets are the same. I have read the oil pick up needs to be adjusted/relocated.

big NO, the 231 pan is not deep enough ,the pickup is not the same

i bought an 231 and used the oil pan,so i needed the pickup too and had to remove the splashplate on the 225 ,then its a perfect fit

Only 225s that came from the factory with a an oil pan skid plate were the 1970 / 1971 Renegades from what I understand.

The 1980's 231 has a "pointed" timing cover across the front, while the 225 timing cover is flat across the front pan rail.
Some say they interchange, but they sure look different to me. I haven't compared gaskets to see if they are the same pattern.
